PEG 200 Distearate
PEG 200 Distearate is a non-ionic fatty acid ester.
The product contains two stearate groups associated with a polyethylene glycol chain of approximately 200 average molecular weight. Compared with PEG 200 Monostearate, the diester has greater lipophilic character and is generally better suited to applications requiring oil compatibility, water-in-oil emulsification support, dispersion and lubricity.
Product Information

Main functions
Emulsification
Supports the formation and stabilisation of selected emulsions, particularly systems requiring a relatively lipophilic non-ionic emulsifier
Co-emulsification
Can be combined with other surfactants to adjust the overall emulsifying properties of a formulation
Dispersion
Helps distribute oils, pigments and other hydrophobic ingredients more uniformly
Lubricity
Reduces friction and improves slip in textile, metalworking and industrial formulations
Consistency modification
Can contribute body and structure to waxy, semi-solid and emulsified products
Non-ionic character
Offers compatibility with a broad range of anionic, cationic and non-ionic formulation ingredients

Typical Uses by Industry
Personal Care & Cosmetics
Used as an emulsifier or co-emulsifier in selected creams, lotions and other emulsified formulations
Can contribute to product structure, consistency and emollient character
Helps disperse oily and lipophilic ingredients
May be used in selected cleansing, hair-care and skin-care formulations where a lipophilic non-ionic surfactant is required
Household & Institutional Products
Used as an emulsifier, dispersing aid and consistency modifier in cleaners, polishes and wax-based formulations
Helps incorporate oily ingredients into formulated systems
Can contribute to formulation body, opacity and surface characteristics
Textiles
Used as a lubricant, emulsifier and dispersing aid in textile-processing formulations
Helps disperse oils, waxes and other processing ingredients
Can reduce friction and support fibre handling during manufacturing operations
Metalworking & Lubricants
Used as an emulsifier, lubricity additive and dispersing aid in metalworking-fluid and lubricant formulations
Helps incorporate oils and functional additives into emulsified or dispersed systems
Can contribute film-forming and friction-reducing properties
Industrial & Technical
Used in selected emulsions, dispersions, polishes, coatings and speciality chemical formulations
Can function as a lipophilic non-ionic emulsifier, process aid and consistency modifier
